Detailed information about the Dunkles type of beer |
|
Dunkles is a dark brew characterized by its smooth malty flavor.
The word "Dunkel" means dark, refering to the dark color of this type of beer. Beers of this type have an average alcohol content of about 4.6 to 5.6 percent, which is the same as Helles' alcohol content. This is not the only thing these types have in common, as both beers are mainly brewed and served in Bavaria and both taste similarly. A Dunkel was the original beer style of the Bavarian countryside, until technological advances made lighter beers easier to produce during the earlier parts of the 19th century. Hangover risk: High |
